She fell out of the bed last night at 4:00 am.  Apparently a wild game of possum had her flipping off the edge.  It scared the life out of me.  Especially since we were on night FOUR in a row of precious uninterrupted sleep.  I was zonked out.  Nothing like a little drama at 4 in the morning.
Speaking of sleep, Littlest (who I will now refer to as Bug, because that's what we call her) is thriving on a new four hour routine.  She's 5 months old.  5 whole months old.  And sleep has been anything but predictable.  We've been doing the paci dance for awhile now.  It seems as though altering her schedule a bit has made drastic changes in her nighttime and daytime sleep.  I'm pretty sure she's catching up on all the lost sleep over the past 5 months.  I'm certainly working on it!

I'm counting down the days left of work outside my home.  I'm still a little scared of not working.  But overall, my heart rejoices for the days to come!  We've been spending a lot of time at the zoo, the botanic gardens, and in the kiddie pool.  Our driveway is decked out to the nines with sidewalk chalk.  And our watercolor paints are flat out done.  We're just practicing for my "retirement."
Have I mentioned our garden?  Two other families, along with us, have planted a 25 x 100 ft plot full of veggies.  LOML has invested a lot of time, sweat, and effort into this.  I've prepared many a picnic meal for us to spend time as a family out there (it's a good 15 minute drive from home) and pulled a few million weeds.  And we have really enjoyed the richness that is found in playing in the dirt.  I'm excited about our bounty.

Somehow I've managed to squeeze in some reading.  Tina Fey's Bossypants killed me.  I will say that if you pick it up, be prepared for some coarse jokes (crude humor from a woman is way more rough than from a man, I think) and some choice words.  Overall, I laughed a lot.  In case you've somehow missed her prayer for her daughter, you must google it.  You just must...but only if you like Tina Fey's humor.  Otherwise, it will be lost on you.  I also finished up Amy Chua's Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother.  It was enlightening.  Overall impressions: I'm glad I'm a "Western mother."  Wouldn't change it if I could.  Next up: Bringing up Bebe whenever I can get it at the library.

Life is full and good.  Thanks be to God!

I read the Battle Hymn and Bebe both this spring. Both very good reads. They are sort of opposites, but I noticed Amy Chua complimented the book on the back cover of Bebe.

So glad you and Bug are both catching up on some much needed sleep. Hopefully things will continue to go well and she'll get in a good routine! Congratulations on getting to stay home full time with your sweet babies! I think you will love it - I know Eleanor does!! And I LOVE the garden! That was our mother's day present to my mom - to plant her garden at my parent's house. I wish I could do one too! So great that yall have such a big plot of land! Can't wait to see the harvest! What are you growing?

I don't know y'all, but found you by blog hopping through some Mountain Brook friends. Love the garden! And as a former teacher and now SAHM...you will enjoy it! So rewarding to be with your children every day! What a blessing. I've been wanting to read Battle Hymn and Bebe books, too. Not sure about Bebe though...FYI...reviews say she gave her husband a threesome for his 40th birthday? Not sure about her advice/ideals! Yikes!

LOVED "Bossypants!" I also read the "Tiger Mom" and was immediately grateful for my own "Western" mother. "Bringing up BeBe" is next on my list too!

I'm almost finished Bringing up Bebe. It was perfect having just gotten back from France, and I have to say, it is astonishing how content the children are. They are resilient people in general. Enjoy!
