This is actually the place where I fell in love with my husband 8 years ago. In my mind it happened while swatting flies in an aluminum boat. I caught the brim, he the bass. But if I'm truthful, it might have happened in a truck, driving through a field with a solo cup of Yellowtail chardonnay sloshing around chasing after a wild hog. What really got me was the excitement he had for creation; the way he cared for me enough to share this part of him. It's a really BIG part of him and it brings him life.
It was precious time spent as a family. To observe as Little One took off in her pajamas to roam that sacred ground brought such fullness to my heart. I spent the early morning of last Friday looking through the trees draped with spanish moss, cup of coffee in hand. My children were asleep, my husband hunting. There weren't floors to sweep or a meal to prepare for, no laundry to be folded or beds needing changing. It was the first time in months that I just sat and listened and enjoyed. That hour changed my life.
And we are back home. Back in the swing of life. My children are sleeping and this mama needs a shower. This weekend, I'm going to work on being still. Listening. Resting. Night, y'all.

Great post. A reminder for me to be still. Love the photos. So glad y'all got away for a few days.
great post, great reminder! I'm gonna try that this weekend too!
What a wonderful trip!! Who knew turkey hunting was all inclusive?!?! A chef? A maid? Yes, please!!!
Tell us more about y'all meeting and falling in love! I love a good love story :)
It is so hard as a stay at home mom to remember to sit and be still. There is always something that needs to be done, but what a blessing and a necessity it is!
Happy weekending!
I love this. I know I need that reminder to be still, too. Happy weekend to you and yours!
I'm not sure how I found your blog but I love your eye for photography AND the way you turn a phrase. Your children are precious!
I love that you recognized him sharing something as male as hunting with you as a sign of love. Most women probably wouldn't take it that way. They would be dismissive and want to tame those urges. Sweet words.
