Flawed
This morning, I repeated some instructions to Little One. She's been pushing the envelope a little more lately and it needs nipping. When she repeated the action I told her not to do, I steamed. Deep breath. "Little One, I just told you not to do that." And do you know what she said to me? "Yup, I heard you. And I did it anyway."
It took a lot not to laugh. And then, out of my mouth came the absolute best line of my parenting career. "When I tell you not to do something, you do it. Do you understand me?" Brilliant, brilliant parenting executed in the bathroom at our house this morning. Sometimes I scare myself.
I pray for grace. I beg for wisdom. And I have to hope that God can use my faulty words to shape her heart. Because clearly my efforts are beyond flawed. Thank goodness His strength is made perfect in my weakness.
