We hosted our Community Group's Christmas party here on Wednesday night. There wasn't much to do as far as prep went...two lasagnas, a pound cake, a bit of tidying up. Our little house nearly exploded with holiday cheer as our friends piled in. Children and friends and dishes and presents and wine and more friends! How full our lives are with these sweet people. Relationships take time to build and grow and we are thankful for the past several years spent knowing these dear friends. And I love my Blue Suede Shoes ornament scored in the Dirty Santa extravaganza. Don't you?

Last night, my Not-Bunco group met up for some margaritas and a night of not playing bunco. That entails sharing new recipes, discipline tactics, heartaches, insane accounts of what happens in a public hospital's emergency room and labor and delivery ward,
and laughing till we cry. It made for two late nights in a row, and marked the third consecutive night that Little One has needed her mama at 3:45 am. I die. How I long for a full night's rest, not to be awakened at 3:45 for a hunting excursion or a crying baby. I'll confess, though, that deep down, LO needing me in the middle of the night is the sweetest most wonderful time spent.

It seems in the past week that LO's motor skills have been completely re-vamped. She's climbing on everything, quick as lightening. And this just in...she let herself out of the pack-and-play at the babysitter's on Tuesday. Holy Moly. I'm not ready for this.

I've seen a good bit of mischievousness, too. I clean up one area of the house while she destroys three others. I know you seasoned mothers are rolling your eyes and chuckling, but this is new territory for me. I ran to grab the phone the other day and she dumped a whole thing of applesauce on her highchair tray, chucked the empty container and spoon across the kitchen and proceeded to fingerpaint in it. I swear, I hadn't turned my head for more than 2 seconds.

We went to the post office today where I dropped $100 on stamps. STAMPS for Christmas cards, people. I told you...OUT OF CONTROL. Hope you all have a merry weekend. Here's to some good rest.

after spending hundreds on the holiday cards we ordered, I haven't been able to bring myself to go to the post office to spend yet another hundred on stamps for said cards. Darn those stamps! And darn my love of correspondence :)
hee hee. i am lovin' little one's ingenuity. :) and i simply cannot wait for my christmas card.
Love your blog! Found it through Ivy Smith's blog... anyways your LO is so precious. Oh and i dropped 100 bucks on stamps the other day too.... insane
I want those blue suede shoes on my tree!
Thanks for the shoutout for our new little one. :-) We are so glad he's here at last! One week old aready!!! Can't wait to see you all soon.
PS- one thing that takes the sting off the stamps just a little bit... you can order them from usps.com and no matter what size your order is, shipping is just $1. At least makes it so you don't have to get all mad waiting in that line first.
Those are FANTASTIC Blue Suede Shoes! Love them!
I'm now purchasing that Elvis-tastic ornament on Amazon. I hope Blakely (who reads this blog) doesn't expect me to give it to her, because I'm going to be selfish with it.
Love your Christmas card. Thank you for including our family on your list.
