Tis a gift to be simple

We welcomed a new cousin/nephew this morning. Praise the Lord for this precious new life! He's sure to be full of life as he's put his mama and daddy (Love of My Life's sis+hubs) through quite a bit even before birth! A new baby at Christmas. Does it get much better than that?

Over breakfast this morning, I was sharing with LOML and Little One how excited I am about Christmas this year. I've been thinking about the meaningful traditions we can start NOW in hopes to prepare our hearts for the true reason we celebrate...the Advent wreath, the daily family devotionals, and I plan to start doing a Jesse Tree next year, when LO can better understand. Jesse Tree devotionals focus on the lineage of Christ, the way God worked through the people in the Old Testament to prepare the world for his son, Jesus.

And while I don't want to totally get caught up in the decorating and the gifts, I have to admit how excited I am about the presents. Do you ever find just the right thing for your loved ones? I can't wait for Little One to play with the doll crib. Can't. Wait. Santa recently dropped off a play vacuum and a sweet little tent/teepee all her own. And my favorite? Some MukLuks. Oh my.

And I've kept my mouth shut long enough....WAR EAGLE, my friends. WAR EAGLE.

My oldest, who is 6, set out to memorize Luke chapter 2 this year...and has done a fantasic job! I am so proud that he is focusing on the real Christmas story, and not just Santa!

It sounds like LO is going to have an awesome Christmas.

Your house looks amazing by the way. I especially love your Christmas stockings.
