Color me happy

I've been working on a little project involving broken crayons and silicone. I scored the reject crayons from the bottom of the barrell at school and picked up a silicone baking tray from the dollar spot at Target (but it was $2.50).

While I sacrificed about three fingernails through the peeling-the-paper-off-process, I'm pretty sure this is the awesomest cheap project ever. And it yields a colorful harvest.

Oh, and sister, don't think one of your littles won't be opening this on Christmas. Because she totally will.

*ps- I cannot take credit for this idea. I saw it online recently but I've completely lost my mind and have no idea where it was (the idea and my mind).*

The 12 Day of Handmade Christmas at lifeingrace, maybe? Love the idea of just using christmas shapes. I was going to use the alphabet.

Such a great idea! I was just about to throw out a bunch of those crayon "pieces" that are all over the playroom, but now I am on the hunt for a cute silicone mold. I also think it's a great way to show my girls how to be resourceful, the fun of finding creative ways to have "new" things, and how to be "green" in a balanced way! Thanks, as always, for the inspiration :)
