We headed to a friend's house today. She has a precious two weeks new bebe that I've been dying to get my hands on. It was an impromptu "we're out and about and would love to stop by" kind of quick visit, right on the cusp of nap time.
I thought we could handle it. I thought wrong. Little One was a disaster, a tornado in unfamiliar territory. Not once, no, not even once did she obey the first time I gave her directions. The candle, the coasters, the door hanger, the cooler, the ice pack, the rattle, the swing, the blanket, the BABY, the hallway, the doorknob, my purse, the book, the rug, the ottoman. Whoa buddy.
I had never seen such a display of LO following her own will than I did today. I certainly did not set her up to succeed, as naptime was just around the corner when we arrived. Training her heart is our responsibility, a priviledge that God has entrusted to us. And appealing to the issues of the heart is going to be much harder than just disciplining the behavior. We've got some work to do.
"Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:6
