I {heart} you

A lot's been happening. But I've got little to share here. Life's weird like that. Or maybe blogging is weird like that.

I went to a Special Educators conference this week. Do you remember my experience from last year? Thankfully the lactation circus wasn't an issue this year. But I did spend a good bit of time worrying and waiting for a phone call from Little One's pediatrician.

We went in for her 18 month checkup on Wednesday. I brought Love of My Life's heart condition to the doctor's attention and she was to contact a peds cardiologist to find out how LO's daddy's heart could affect her own. We knew his condition can be genetic, but thought that we had until adolescence to evaluate.

And so, after playing phone tag for hours, we found that it is recommended that we have Little One evaluated, ohhhh, NOW. An echo cardiogram on my 18 month old's heart. I wasn't really prepared for that. So while I wasn't sitting on a toilet juggling breast shields and tubing in a public bathroom, my heart was filled with concern for LO's sweet heart. There is a chance that something completely unexpected can be discovered while looking for the cardiomyopathy...like a little hole. While we believe that she will be quite fine, we also rest in the knowledge that nothing happens that hasn't first passed through the hands of a loving Father. He designed Little One exactly as he saw fit, purposefully, to glorify Himself.

While we wait on that October 21st appointment with a pediatric cardiologist, we will soak up the days. We will listen to a whole lot of giggles, little feet running down the hall, and a blooming vocabulary. We will smooch and snuggle and love on our little 28 1/2 pound girl.
Oh, and about those beads...she just had to wear them. She needed them...to be just like her mama.
