Did you know we got to go to the beach this summer? Okay, we've been home a month now, but I've only had our computer back for a week! I think the last time I went to the beach with my family was when I was 8 years old. Yeah, I know that's crazy. Regardless we packed our bags and headed down to the gulf to spend a week with my mother's side of the family...cousins I hadn't seen in nearly 20 years! 20 years!!

It was hard. Love of My Life stayed behind but then joined us for the last three days. Single mom-ing it in unfamiliar territory is
rough. Little One really pushed the envelope and I was slap worn out by the time LOML arrived. Awaking no later than 5:30 every morning is terrible. I don't know how some of you out there make that work. I NEED the bebe to sleep until 7. And she normally does pretty good with that. But this was a different kind of week.

Little One wasn't too thrilled with the beach on day 1. There was only clinging, clawing, and grasping at anything attached to my body that day. The ocean is big. And Little One is pretty little. Day 2 got a tad bit better. And by day 3 she was actually *gasp* playing in the sand! Before this trip, I'd never spent any time under an umbrella at the beach. Before this trip I'd also only had one goal in mind- to submit my vulnerable whiteness to absolute torture by rubbing down with oil and waiting to turn brown as a berry. I guess you could say that in my old age, I've become much more wise. Ha. All that to say, an umbrella on the beach is the way to go.

We spent one evening getting the whole family together for a few pictures. We took about 100. AT least. And they didn't turn out so great. LOML broke out his bubba teeth for the occasion (although not pictured here). I would have killed him if the one picture that looked decent of the majority of us ended up with those stupid teeth in his mouth. He lucked out as none of them turned out great!
We also tried to get some pics of the three of us. No can do. My sister took 18 pictures. I am the ONLY one looking at the camera in all 18. What's up with that?

Isn't my mother adorable? Just look at her legacy! We really did have a grand time. What a generous gift from my Uncle. Hey fam, what's the plan for next summer?

What sweet pictures! Your cute little blond baby makes me smile :)
Oh my gosh, this sounds like our beach trip a few weeks ago. It was soooooooo hard! And not as enjoyable as it was when we didn't have kids. BUT, it was fun to make those memories.
PS-I don't care what anyone says, but it is super hard to be a "single" mom when the significant other is away. Super hard!
LOVE that sweet little dress with the pink... so hoping I need something like that one of these days..... :-)
