Howdy! I can't believe how much life has passed by. The days are long, the weeks short. And here we are, the first week of school...and the first time I haven't been going back to school since like 1985. I'm a little bit lost, perhaps experiencing an identity crisis.
We've spent the last two months growing rapidly. Self feeding, near crawling, potty training at night. We are learning new things each day, me included. Like, a new car doesn't mean no repairs. Don't leave anything within arm's reach of Bug. A busted brake line is not a quick fix when the part has been discontinued. It will never be easy to see my mom and my dad in the same room but not there together. Change in church leadership is extremely painful and comes with a lot of heartache. There is so much for me to learn.
I said awhile ago that I absolutely WOULD NOT turn into a yoga pants wearing, suburban driving mama. Just last week, we traded in the Honda and got a Yukon. Strike one. I dressed in good clothes to drop Little One at school on her first day. When I got home, Bug went down for her nap and I experienced the first taste of the freedom that school years will bring. Eager to knock things off my to-do list, I grabbed the scouring pad and started with the tub. 20 minutes and a little bit of elbow grease later, I passed a mirror and saw the bleach stain on my good shirt. Enter yoga pants and t-shirts. Strike 2. I eat my words, friends.
I'm excited about what this fall holds. I realize now that while working part time, I couldn't really excel at one aspect of life over another. I was stretched too thin to be really great at teaching and really great at wifing/mothering. And let's face it, I would much rather be great at taking care of my family, anticipating their needs, focusing on loving each of them, living together, learning together, mourning and rejoicing together. I praise the Lord for the challenge of being at home. This season of life is good and full. Maybe I'll get around to sharing it with you!

Been praying for your sweet family and your church family as well. Can we have coffee/play some morning? H goes to school M, Tu, Th. Love seeing your precious girls! Growing, growing, growing!
Glad to see you posting...embrace the yoga pants! The hubs will be happy b/c that uniform cuts down on the clothing budget. ha!
Sweet, sweet times.
NOOOOOO, no yoga pants and t-shirt wearing!!! Okay, some times it's okay - like cleaning days.
Such sweet pics. Loved seeing y'all! And love u!
I am totally the yoga pants wearing, suburban driving mama. I caved pretty early on too...at least in the yoga pant department. And now we're shopping suburbans. In the summer I wear Nike running shorts. I can't help myself.
I like what you said about not being able to excel at both home and work. So true.
Always enjoying your blog :)
Yoga pants can be pretty sexy... Just get a cute top or two to go with them and throw it on really quickly before the hubs comes home from work. :-) (Go for the spandex yoga pants. Much cuter. Old Navy has great ones.) haha
Enjoy your days. It's a fun journey!
Love you!
