Hi

I don't know what happened. They all said it'd go fast...high school, college, summer break, childhood. They all were right. This season of life is sweet to the core...and melting away like a popsicle on these hot days!

In my eight weeks of summer vacation, our girl has grown so much...physically, emotionally, verbally. My heavens, is she talking these days! Miss Independent, Miss I-Can-Do-It-Mama laughs and giggles her way through every day. And while there has been some whining, (okay, a LOT of whining), she's such a happy girl that my heart sings when she wakes in the morning.

I've started working on the Shorter Catechisms with Little One. I have been blown away by what her little mind can hang on to. We've got 1,2, and 3 down pat. With another vital truth sprinkled in.
q: "Who made you?" a: God
q: "What else did God make?" a: God made all things (LO then adds in, "even my tummy." Hilarious)
q: "Why did God make you and all things?" a: For his own glory
q: "What is the chief end of man?" a: To glorify God and enjoy him forever.

Iwant to throw in some scripture memory. Does anyone have a good resource recommendation for this? I don't want to just pick random short verses for LO to learn, but verses of God's promises that she will return to over and over again throughout life.

just had this sillhouette done last week....such a big girl!!

Okay, wrapping things up...I return to work tomorrow. How bittersweet it is! But, oh! The routine! The schedule! How I LOVE a schedule!! It's good for my soul. And for my household chores. And our bellies as I'm more apt to prepare meals every night! It might even be good for the ole blog!

Check out http://camptiny.blogspot.com/

She is a mother who has come with a different verse, activity, food, etc to help teach her kids about Jesus. WONDERFUL resource!

Love your blog! :)

This is a sweet post. I bet hearing her little voice saying those words are even more beautiful. I love her silhouette. Who did that for you?

I have a book for scripture memory for kids. It is something like "ABC's of learning scripture for children." I would give you the exact title but I loaned it to someone. But it is really good. Each verse corresponds to a letter in the alphabet, so it makes for easy memory.

Our children loved scripture set to music. Way back then it was Psalty, Beginner Bible w/ Jodie Benson (voice of the Little Mermaid) and I believe we had some really good ones by Steve Green. I am not sure any of these are around anymore...there are probably some better ones. I do remember the ones by Steve Green were straight scripture. Hope that is helpful.
