Little One and I hit the road last Wednesday for a whirlwind trip south. I had the privilege of meeting and hearing none other than Ms. Sally Lloyd-Jones read from her most excellent
Jesus Story Book Bible! It was fantastic. Truly, truly, truly, if you do not own this storybook, you must pick up a copy. Children or not, the premise of her writing is that every story from scripture "whispers" the name of Jesus. I find that I cannot keep myself from tears every time I open it up.

My precious mother reserved a table and nursery space for me and my two sisters plus some. It was quite delightful to be among such kind ladies. And Ms. Lloyd-Jones's English accent could make even the crudest joke sound sweet to my ears.

Little One, mom, and I then headed to my sister's home for a few nights. 4 kids plus 4 adults should be pretty simple, right? Ha. It was gloriously wild and I especially loved picking strawberries alongside 8 little hands that couldn't get enough. Little One's white shirt resembled that of a massacre after leaving the strawberry patch. I didn't snap a single picture, so we'll all have to wait on sister. Hint, hint!! :)
And while we were away, please don't think LOML was bored. He actually instigated our trip by planning his own 4 day turkey hunting adventure. I'd say it was a success. Two turkeys, one shot. Hunt of a lifetime. It's tradition to save the beards and feet of any poor turkey victim. Once the feet are hardened, they make excellent back scratchers. Kidding. Sort of. I have to look at the positive side of things, right?

And a new day today brought with it it's own adventure. My 9:30 class was interrupted with a phone call from a neighbor. A limb from our very large oak tree had fallen. By God's sovereign grace, it did not hit our home. It did not land on a car. It did not fall on anyone driving by or walking on the sidewalk in our very social neighborhood. Little One was not swinging in her swing when the limb gave in to its own weight. Thank the Lord for his mercies, new every morning.

Wow that is a huge limb! Praise the Lord no one was injured. And I have heard good things about the Jesus Story Book Bible. Must put that on our list of books now!
Oh that makes me so sad to see that limb! Will the rest of the tree be okay? (sounds like a silly question, but seriously.) Missing Little One!!!
So glad the limb didnt hurt anyone! On a different note, we have MANY turkey feet back scratchers in our house. My friends that don't have a "hunting" background are horrified. I think our hubbies would get along great! :)
we are such a fan of TJSB. What a treat to see the author and spend time with your mom an sister.
wow - two birds with one shot. Impressive.
bought frozen diced onions yesterday - totally thought of you.
I luuuurve the Jesus Storybook Bible. I read it to Maggie even now. She likes the pictures. I like to cry over it. It's a win-win.
