Coloring, biting, and a lump

I've gotten highlights twice in my life...the first time in room 305 of Little Hall Dormitory my freshman year in college. My suite mate, roommate, and I also decided that my arm hair needed dying at the same time. I was sure I was in hell with the burning and whatnot of that brilliant idea. The second time was right before our wedding. Surfer girl blonde. It was so awesome. Let's just say I'm glad it faded some before the big day. Hair + color = fear. But today, today my friends, I conquered my fears. And dug deep (really stinking deep) in my pockets. And emerged after three HOURS of beautification. I'm a new woman, color, cut and all.

I picked up Little One yesterday and found out she had bitten her friend. Although no blood, the teeth marks were still very much so there, nearly 4 hours after the incident. It was bad. She was guilty and remorseful. She's also protective of her stuff. We've got a lot to learn, Lord help us.

I woke up at 4am Monday morning with serious pain in my throat. I laid awake thinking about how badly it hurt, how it had hurt for nearly three weeks straight, how I probably should have gone to the doctor but I'd waited so long that surely it will pass, and OH MY GOODNESS it's not my throat but my tongue that hurts. And naturally, as any normal person would do at 4 in the morning, I stuck my finger back there and felt around, landing on a lump the size of a pencil eraser in my tongue. And of course, as everything is a million times more dramatic when you awake from dead sleep at 4 in the morning, I just knew it was cancer and I was dying and I'm glad I have a will, and I just wanted at least one more child before I die and...well, you get the idea. I'm fortunate that my FIL is an ENT. He laughed when I called. Inflamed taste bud, something about tonsil tissue. Not cancer. Mouth ulcers. Ibuprofen, acetaminophen. You will live. That's pretty much all I heard. Thank heavens.

Seriously, no picture of your new color and self! No fair. Bless LO's heart. I feel for her friend but I also feel for her. Glad your tongue doesn't have cancer. I always go there in my mind too- captivate those thoughts!

Too funny, I haven't highlighted in ages either, and today I splurged on a three hour session of my own. Good for the soul to feel a little beautified. Mine feels dramatic, but I think I'm okay with that. Also, I always feel odd bumps. My go to is Sarah Barry, she told me last week my latest concern was a swollen lymph node. Phew.

I agree.....we don't get a pic?

I have to admit when I saw the title of this post I thought "OH we are going to get to see some of LO's beautiful artwork, a story about her biting, and a story about how she fell and got a lump on her head". While I'm glad 2 of the stories turned out to be about you, I am even more stoked that the lump isn't cancer and LO doesn't have one on her head! Ha!

What?! No picture of your hair? I'm starting a petition.

We haven't gotten to biting. We've been on the receiving end. Waylon has just started hitting. Me, mostly. Gonna read Growing Kids ASAP. And Bringing Up Boys.
