I grew up an Auburn girl. My mother was raised there. My grandfather an engineering professor for the University. Both of my parents are AU alums. I grew up walking through downtown, enjoying a good lemonade. I consumed a few dips from the Sani-Freeze (now that's really old school Auburn). I spent four years learning in that great place, made dear friends, and met my husband there. Auburn holds a special place in my heart.
And it makes me so sad to learn about Toomer's trees. So sad; not angry at the crazed Alabama fan that couldn't stand the Iron Bowl win for the Tigers, but sad for them. So very sad.
*If you don't know, one of Auburn's greatest traditions is rolling the 150 year old oaks that grace Toomer's Corner in the event of a win. It's a fantastic celebration that's not to missed.

It makes me so sad, too. That is just horrible! I'm so sorry it happened!
That is just awful, people have no respect or morals these days! I can't believe someone would poison trees, it just makes me so disappointed in our society!
I am surprised that I did not hear this yet. I married into an Auburn family. Our family will to be mourning the loss of the tradition if it comes to it. However, I am sure the tradition will live on in some way or another. Such a rude and disturbing thing to do.
I really did shed a tear last night when I heard. Hard to believe time in prison was worth it to him.
It makes me so sad, too. To imagine that someone would be so selfish by attacking a tradition that they take no part in. I know the whole of Auburn will morn the loss.
Everyone I know who went to Auburn LOVED it! Ya'll are die hards!
That is just ridiculous! And sad, that something like that happened over football, what a sore loser!
He needs to spend a few years in jail and then his probation should include planting like 300 trees!
