The Love of My Life's college roommate and his family came to visit this weekend. While the girls played at home, the boys did a little hunting. I think it's safe to say that Friday morning's hunt is in the top 5 of all time for my man. And y'all, he's been a lot in his 29 years so that's really saying something.

I complain too often about these 60 days of duck season. I'm working on that. Really, I am so glad that LOML has such passion for something outdoors. It's healthy. It's manly. It makes him who he is.

And for you wives/friends/girlfriends of hunters....I have two gift recommendations for you. I'm not into all that gear. Sure as I try to purchase something it would be totally wrong, too snug, and a waste. And so, I've given my non-reading husband two books that are coffee table beautiful and chock full of interesting hunting stuff. Click on the pictures for more info.
First Shooting Light features several clubs that LOML has hunted. That made it pretty exciting. And the pictures are really breathtaking. You might even catch yourself wanting to read it!
Wild Abundance is full of great recipes that I've been begged to try out. It's not all game stuff...there's greens and corn bread and fried peach pie. When I get done cooking through my new Pioneer Woman cookbook, I'll give some of these a whirl.
Happy hunting, friends!

Since I'm currently relying on others to feed my family (thank God for southern women and the tradition of bringing food to new moms!), you have to let me know which PDub recipes you love.
Be grateful duck season is only 60 days. Hubs is a crazy-obsessed golfer whose golf season runs from March to November. As long as the ground isn't frozen, he's out on the course.
Girl! You only have to deal with it for 60 days??!! Lucky duck! Haha:) I've been dealing with the deer hunting since October and it's just now wrapping up but then turkey season starts in March. Oh well...he sure loves his hobby and I know it makes him happy!
We have this book and I have yet to try a single recipe. Let me know when you do and maybe it will motivate me!!
