Real Life

Most of the time, reading this blog is like looking through rose colored glasses. You see the fun things, the sweet things...but only sometimes do you see the REAL things. Don't get the wrong idea here. Life is good. I have never felt such contentment. My heart has never been so full. The newness of life with a baby has been a surprisingly smooth transition. The hardest part has been arranging visitors according to Little One' schedule! That being said, I figure it's time to give you a glimpse of the reality of life in our home.

I change clothes just as much or more than Little One. I spend a good bit of the day looking like this (that wet spot...that's spit up):

Mount Everest has taken up residence on the left side of my face. I noticed its growth while in the hospital. He's still hanging in there.

I invested in more Bobbi Brown under eye cover up to TRY to hide the purple circles. Even with 4-5 hour stretches of sleep, weariness is painted under my eyes. At least it's a pretty shade. I'd call it eggplant.

These two four legged children have taken a back seat (as we all knew they would and even they sensed). Along with developing hyperthyroidism, they have now resorted to eating their own waste. I imagine this unacceptable behavior is a ploy to gain some attention. When we go on walks without them, we can hear Avery's whine all the way around the block.

The majority of adult interaction I get each day involves hanging up on phone solicitors. That most everyone I know works means that I'm on my own during the day, except for the occasional emails. I do get to talk to the Love of My Life, my sister, my sister-in-law and my mother in law at any time during the day. This is good.

I've begun to look forward to Little One's 2:00 feeding. Guiding Light comes on and it's safe to say that I'm hooked. Drama is high- Edmund took Reva to the hospital as she's in labor and Jeffrey got a little mixed up with the law. I'm on the edge of my seat here. It's too bad that CBS announced they're wrapping up the show in September after 72 years of broadcasting. Whoa.

Currently, I have 30 minutes before Little One eats again. The dryer just finished it's cycle, there are dishes in the sink, the den needs vacuuming again, those thank you's aren't writing themselves, the yearbook needs attending to, and this girl needs a shower. If Little One has taught me anything, she's given me a refresher course on time management.

And after reading all I just wrote, I realize that even the "realness" of my life is still pretty rosy.
