It's been awhile since I've posted. No excuses...except for maybe the hectic last few days of school before break, Christmas soirees galore, traveling to far and distant lands to celebrate Jesus' birth, not to mention carrying this load of a baby around. We've been a bit busy the past few weeks.
On Christmas eve (and in our summer clothes) we packed up the Honda and headed for my sister's in the deep south. I was a bit concerned for the 8 hour drive. Baby girl has been camped out under the right side of my rib cage. Sitting for long periods of time is a little rough. But then I remembered why we were spending that time in the car...to be with family and celebrate the birth of our savior. If Mary could make it to Bethlehem on a donkey, I think my Honda will be quite comfortable. We enjoyed a fabulous Christmas dinner with 19 people around the dinner table! And some lively conversation with my 4 1/2 year old niece. (more to come on that later) Christmas morning was full of 15 people (and only 3 were children!!) in their pajamas, cinnamon rolls, Santa's gifts, and wrapping paper galore. We had a wonderful time in the balmy south. Maybe next time, we can bring some cold weather with us.
On the ride down, The Love of My Life and I were talking about the change in our hearts this holiday season. Never having been pregnant before, it's only natural that I wouldn't have deeply considered Mary's role at Christmastime. I was discussing my ponderings, all while LOML is listening and interjecting his "uh huh's" and "right's." Silence ensued after I divulged the depths of my heart...Until LOML said, "I guess Joseph had to cut the umbilical cord with his teeth." After erupting in laughter, I realized how fitting it is that my husband, the one who is so weak at heart regarding all things medical would consider such circumstances as how to cut the cord. I love what he brings to my life.
Now I'm just gearing up to host my in-laws for a few days. Happy 30th to my SIL (shout out to you)!! Now there's something to ponder over...leaving your 20's behind!!
Happy New Year to all of you.
