Glendas

I'll admit that I have stolen this term from Liz. I laughed out loud as I read her account of run ins with Glendas. Until today.

Since announcing my pregnancy gave those that know me the freedom to give unwarranted advice, I've been told a lot of things. Things I don't care to know about. Things that should not be shared with anyone outside of your husband. However, they tell me anyway. Now that I'm starting to show a little bit, the general public is noticing the little life growing inside of me as well. There's a giddy excitement when strangers ask about my pregnancy. It's quite different when strangers poke my stomach.

I was in my favorite little gift shop today, buying a gift for a baby shower. As I was waiting for my purchase to be wrapped, another customer in the store was watching me peruse the baby items. She walked (it was more of a brisk walk) over to me and said, "It looks like someone else is going to have a baby, too!" With every word she said, she proceeded to poke my belly. Count it. That's 12 pokes. I just smiled and patted/rubbed my stomach, "yes ma'am." Rubbing is one thing. Poking...that's off limits. Oh, Glenda.
