the taj mahal

hey, yes, it's still me. i just needed a break from that terribly skewed damask pattern that was my header. yuck. this is a little more fresh and tolerable!

LOML worked for a good few weekends to complete the "dog kennel." the fruits of his labor come only after many, many, many hours of thinking and planning. literally, this is more than just a dog house. it's a dog mansion, aka the taj mahal. the concrete pad stems from the need to keep the dogs from digging. our backyard looked as though it were full of underground passage-ways due to avery's non-stop digging.

we still have a long way to go on the backyard- but it is ten thousand times better than what it was. when we moved in a year and a half ago, we spent multiple weekends tearing out the overgrown brush that was the back yard. we removed a 50 year old (i'm guessing here) swing set, two different fences, 3 dumptruck loads of brush and trees, and had a gigantic rotten maple tree cut down. next on the agenda is to sod and add a few beds. aren't i lucky to be married to such a handy man!

the kennel is to the right, but this is what the yard looks like now (and i'm not kidding- this is amazing compared to what we were working with). the trenches are from the concrete truck that got stuck where the maple tree stump was ground up. and doesn't our new fence look great? i actually helped do some hammering on that thing.

here's LOML, doing what he does...

roofing...

ta-da! eventually we will have gravel of some sort around the border, then covered up with some nice landscaping. i did say eventually....

Love of My Life can actually stand up inside of it. and the black barrels provide a bed of sorts for the pups to hang out in. they'll be much more comfy with some hay inside!

LOML, i am so proud of you!
