biggest losers among us

on the way to school this morning, i was listening to the morning show on a particular radio station. they were introducing the contestants in our city's biggest loser challenge (a "who can lose the most weight" game). i was glad to hear that the radio show was doing this, as what we call home just so happens to be one of the most unhealthy cities in the nation. what a great way to encourage weight loss and healthy living. and the $5,000 reward for the biggest loser isn't too shabby either.

now, some of you will see where i'm going here, but i must preface this by reminding you that i am a teacher. every teacher convention i've been to (that would be about 6), it's like a calling for overweight women..."come get another free teacher bag in the exhibit hall, and be sure to stop by the complimentary donut/jelly roll/cookie table." (if you don't know, teachers are really into free bags, free pens, and terrible-for-your-health-food). this being my third year of teaching, i have quite a growing collections of these free bags- when we had a garage sale, the $0.25 price tag was too high, so i started putting people's purchases in the bags just to get rid of them. anyway, you can imagine, while "meeting" these biggest loser contestants this morning, we were given the profession of the majority...teachers. what's up with that? i just hope that those people all lose a whole bunch of weight. bring a good body image back to the teaching profession! best of luck to all trying to shed a few (or a whole lot).

on a side note, i went to target yesterday and was trying to pick out a new nail color. naturally, rather than buying up a bunch of bottles and trying them all out, i sampled each color on different fingers, pre-purchase. i just noticed while typing, that i successfully forgot to remove the polish so i have 6 mismatched nail colors going on all at once. i may not need to join in on the biggest loser challenge, nor do i wear plaid or jean jumpers...i'm working on making a new trend among my colleagues. different colored nails is the new thing.
