I have so much to learn. Why is it that my first response in unfamiliar territory is to find a book about it? Or google it? Or find a friend that just went through it? Or talk to the Love of My Life like I know what I'm doing and just want his affirmation? Why don't I go straight to THE truth, the scriptures?
Sometimes I'm tempted to look the other way when I see LO disobey. That would be SO easy. I fail her often with my inconsistencies, my lack of judgement, my desire for her to enjoy every second of every day, my giving of too many chances. In doing these things, I'm setting her up to be self righteous, arrogant, and prideful. "Begin in the way you mean to go." When Eve ate the fruit, God cursed women with pain in childbearing. I'm learning it's not just in labor pains, but the rearing of children as well. Man, it's so stinking hard.
"No discipline seems pleasant at the time but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it." Hebrews 12:11

True. True. And even more true. So. stinkin. hard. I definitely got "crummy mom" award today. How quickly we forget that we only need one book that we already have. So guilty as well.
And I've been thinking a lot about what you were saying on your other post about facebook. Isn't that the truth. I'm starting to think social media will destroy us if we let it. It makes us so vulnerable...and yes, so sensitive. Feelings hurt over ridiculous things.
Maybe we'll eventually learn, huh?
Hugs,
Sarah
Once again you speak straight to my heart.
I think about that all the time as a teacher and my husband and I are expecting our first baby.
LOVE LO's vest also!
Oh how TRUE!!! I was blessed to read that you are desiring to follow the LORD and HIS Word in this pursuit...you will never be led wrong there! How precious to begin on this footing...the years fly by! Enjoy! BTW...You take amazing photos...just like your sister (*love* that first one!)
Many blessings,
Camille
I do not have any children, but I somehow own the book, Shepherding a Child's Heart. I will certainly read it when my motherhood days approach me! It's so wonderful to read about motherhood. I know I'll have awesome blog references, as well as great books, when that day arrives!
